Y’all… PlantCon 2025 in Houston was one for the books. I walked in thinking I’d just browse some exotic plants, maybe snag a cool pot or two—and left feeling like I had just taken a big, deep breath. It wasn’t just a plant show—it was a full-on, soul-nourishing, community-rooted vibe.
The Moment I Walked In…
As soon as I stepped into the NRG Center, I was hit with that earthy, green magic smell—fresh soil, tropical foliage, and possibility. There were plants everywhere. I’m talking rare aroids with leaves the size of your face, fuzzy philodendrons, wild orchids that looked like they were whispering secrets. I was in heaven.
Plant Enthusiasts Are My People
You know that feeling when you find your people? That’s what PlantCon gave me. From fellow florists to houseplant hoarders, plant moms, plant dads, and plant enthusiasts—we were all just there, connected by roots (literally and figuratively).
Creativity and Community
I caught a few workshops—one on mounted ferns (which now I’m obsessed with), and another about styling with driftwood that had me dreaming up ten new installations before lunch. The energy was creative, inspiring, and filled with new ideas just waiting to bloom.
Also—PlantCon has the best vendors. I picked up a hand-painted pot from a local artist, a cutting of a variegated vanilla orchid (yes, it’s real), and a moss pole that looks like sculpture.
Oh—and let me tell you what I left with:
Three huge pieces of driftwood (so beautiful I nearly cried), and a 6-foot-tall Oncidium orchid plant that stole the whole show. That thing barely fit in my car, and I have zero regrets.
It was dangerous for my wallet, but healing for my heart.
My Favorite Part? The Love.
What blew me away the most was how intentional everything felt. This wasn’t just a convention—it was a celebration of everyone who finds joy in watching something grow. Plant enthusiasts from all walks of life came together to create something bigger than any one plant.
It was inclusive. It was beautiful. And it was proof that the plant world isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about connection.
Final Thoughts from a Floral Soul
I came to PlantCon looking for inspiration and left with a full heart, new friendships, and a tote full of leafy treasures. In this wild, fast-paced world, it’s events like this that remind me why I do what I do. Plants heal. People heal. And when you put them together, magic happens.
So to the whole PlantCon team—thank you for planting joy in our hearts. And to everyone I hugged, high-fived, or geeked out over foliage with… I see you. I love you. And I’ll see you in the soil.
Until next time,
Aceinfullbloom
